Channel 39.4 has a new look, new programs and more: WORLD Channel

Stream The WORLD Channel/39.4 LIVE Here!

A change to our multicast lineup has been made.  PBS Fort Wayne’s EXPLORE channel/39.4 has become the WORLD Channel.

WORLD is known throughout America as one of public media’s premiere destinations for a wide variety of nonfiction programming, reflecting a wealth of documentary content available for broadcast plus streaming and more. With this channel switch, PBS Fort Wayne will continue to share the best in documentaries, informational programs, and daily international newscasts from independent filmmakers and public media partners in the United States and around the globe.

“Ever since the funding cuts and staff reductions we endured this year, we have been looking to optimize the workload required for the existing EXPLORE channel, 39.4. We are thrilled to be able to offer such a high quality and robust programming alternative that will continue to inform, illuminate, and expand our horizons in Northeast Indiana,” stated Ed Leon, President and CEO of PBS Fort Wayne.

WORLD features four original series: America ReFramed for U.S. long-form documentaries; Doc World for international feature-length documentaries; Local, USA for short-story themed reporting on local issues of national importance; and Stories from the Stage, a multi-platform storytelling series. WORLD also showcases films and programs from filmmakers, public media stations and partners that celebrate cultures and highlight issues such as racial injustice, financial insecurity, safe affordable housing, education, healthcare, climate change and democracy.

In addition, viewers will find international news programs on WORLD such as NHK Newsline from Japan's public broadcaster (weekdays at 7:00am),  DW News (weekdays at 5:00pm) BBC News America (weekdays at 5:30pm) France 24(weekdays at 6:00pm). 39.4 will also air  PBS News Hour (weeknights at 10:00pm) followed by DW The Day(daily news in review, weeknights at 11:00pm) and BBC News (weeknights at 11:30pm).

Fitness Programs Once Found On Explore 39.4 Have Moved To Create TV

Some content previously programmed into our EXPLORE channel between 6:30 and 9:00am each day—specifically, fitness programs such as Classical Stretch by Essentrics, Sit and be Fit andHappy Yoga with Sarah Star—have found new homes on our Create TV channel, 39.3, during weekday time slots similar to ones they had on the Explore channel.

The days and times for these shows now on Create 39.3 are:

Two other fitness programs previously seen on 39.4—Body Electric and Functional Fitness with Suzanne Andrews—are no longer scheduled. While Body Electric was popular with viewers, it did not meet broadcast requirements as set by the FCC because the series does not have closed captioning. Should this change, it is possible this program might return in the future. Functional Fitness could also return at some point in the future when time and space in our schedule would allow.
